NAPLES, Fla. (AP) – A Collier County deputy was reprimanded after shocking a colleague with a Taser in an incident meant to be a joke. The December scene was caught on tape at the Collier County jail. A female deputy was seen showing a message on her iPod to Cpl. Wilmer A. Arencibia, who followed the woman and shocked her on the behind with his Taser.
Arencibia told investigators it was “a spur of the moment thing” and acknowledged the behavior was improper.
He was given a reprimand and final warning after an internal investigation.

Probably shouldn't of done it in front of inmates...nor in front of the camera. A joke that got a little carried away maybe, I've shocked my brother before as a joke and then a battle royale ensued. I agree with what Maine says.

If you're gonna be stupid you gotta be tough. This was just a dumb thing to do. Everyone here who has been tased knows that it's not pleasant. He could have really hurt her. It's not even slightly funny. She ran away from him to avoid him shocking her and he did it anyway. I would have been pissed. This could have ended terribly and the Officer should have been fired. The weapons provided to LE Officers are dangerous and not meant to be used as a form of entertainment.

LMAO Maine that is nasty funny but so unsanitary! These guys need to know that even when they know how to operate these weapons and can control to some extent what happens from it, they need to be careful, especially when stuff like this is on tape and the public gets to see it, it now makes it ok for uneducated children that get their hands on a taser or such to do this and they could end up really hurting someone!!

Why is everyone standing around? The guy with his hands in his pockets and the other one just sitting there watching. Maybe someone could have put a stop to this before it happened. The people watching should be held somewhat accountable for what they didn’t do.

I don't think it was that bad. Looks like they were fooling around and he took it a little to far. I think the formal reprimand was enough. He learned his lesson. This is one reason I don't like "less than lethal" weapons. Some folks think it's okay to fool around with them. I have had pepper spray in my intake vents, on the door handle, that kind of stuff. It was all in good fun, part of the job. I had a female friend/co-worker put a tampon in my thermos one time, let me tell you those things are absorbent! Relax folks, it's not like they were playing with a shotgun or something.

Maugwa, Sorry Brother, I don't agree with your assessment, UNLESS you are form this office and have firsthand knowledge of the situation. Brother you and several others are quick to condemn a fellow Brother and Department for something that is purely poor judgment, but not an offense that affects someone’s integrity, ability to do their job, ability to respond, or quality of their performance. I would say the department looked into all the questions asked here on this thread and came to the correct conclusion. It always amazes me how we have fellow officers quick to eat our own....... Give the guy the benefit of the doubt; he made a dumb mistake, UNLESS you have ALL the facts on this incident......

I would have to say there is not enough information here to fully judge the officer. Though his actions were unacceptable. I would like to know if it was a complaint by someone else or the female officer, she might not be filing the charges at all.

What was dude thinking?! Damn. The irony of this is that the Deputy was probably a top notch guy. All of his hard work and dedication undone in an instant. He was def thinking with the wrong head.

Listening to some of your pathetic assessments of this situation it seems that the deputy could have just shot her in the ass with his duty sidearm. No biggie.....right? After all they were just flirting! The deputy needs to be terminated from employment if the Sheriff has the least bit of integrity. She will be meeting with an attorney soon when she sees dollar signs. Or maybe she'll strike some deal with Collier County Government to "move right up the promotional ladder." What a mess.........made even bigger by the Collier County Sherriff himself.
