Mich. Militia Leader Advocates Killing Cops to Discourage Recruits

DETROIT — A Christian militia leader accused of plotting the mass murder of law enforcement as a prelude to a larger war against the government hoped killing police would help keep people from joining the force, according to a transcript of a secretly recorded audio tape.
The Associated Press obtained the transcript Thursday. It lists David Brian Stone of rural southern Michigan as saying: "You kill enough cops, you can’t get enough people to take the job.
“Why? I’m not gonna become a cop and go die.”
Audio clips of the tape also were obtained by CNN and were available Thursday on its Web site.
Parts of the recording were played during a March 31 detention hearing in Detroit federal court, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald Waterstreet said then that the audio was recorded by an undercover FBI agent. An abbreviated version of the transcript, which did not include Stone’s comments about killing officers to deter recruitment, was filed last week in federal court.
The transcripts include a speech read by Stone that he planned to deliver to a February meeting of militia members in Kentucky. Stone, the agent and other suspected members of the Hutaree were on their way to the militia rally but turned around because of rough winter weather.
“Now it’s time to strike and take our nation back so that we may be free again from tyranny,” Stone says, according to the transcripts. “Time is up. God bless all of you and welcome to the new revolution.”
The recording was made during the van ride by the undercover agent, presumably the speaker referred to as “other individual” in the transcript.
The “OI” asks Stone to read the speech even though he was denied the chance to deliver it at the rally.
“You going to practice on us? Yeah, we got time,” the OI says. “I want to hear it anyway. Yeah, let me turn the radio off. Yeah … yeah, literally a captive audience.”
Stone then reads the speech, in which he decries the “evil, greedy New World Order” and says that “as long as we let them terrorize any American through fear and intimidation, then they are winning this battle, and we should step up to the fight that they have started and finish it.”
Stone and eight other suspected Hutaree members, self-proclaimed “Christian warriors” who trained themselves in paramilitary techniques in preparation for a battle against the Antichrist, are charged with seditious conspiracy, or plotting to levy war against the U.S. They were arrested after a series of raids across the Midwest late last month.
Prosecutors say the group planned to make a false 911 call, kill responding police officers, then set off a bomb at the funeral to kill many more. An indictment said that after the attacks, the group planned to retreat to “rally points” protected by trip-wired explosives for a violent standoff with law enforcement.
Defense attorneys argue their clients are protected by their right to free speech.
Michael Rataj, who represents Stone’s wife, Tina Mae Stone, said his client didn’t make the trip to Kentucky, and is “confused by the whole thing.”
“She doesn’t hate anybody. She wasn’t planning on killing anybody, particularly police officers,” Rataj said.

Oh it's about to be on like Donkey Kong. Hate to break it to ya, but killing cops won't stop people from answering the call and wanting to stop douche-bags from you. I must say that they're lucky they got caught because if they had succeeded with their plans with the fake 9-1-1 calls and shooting police and bombing funerals....I'd so leave Texas to join up with any task force in Kentucky to hunt those bastards responsible down, and we wouldn't be taking any prisoners on that mission. It'd be a straight fire-mission, seek and destroy all the way around.

So they call themselves Christians, huh? Well, the Romans had a plan for them: throw them to the lions. Same principle today: throw them to the LEOs.
Go get 'em, brothers and sisters!

Free speech is great when you are threatening the people that are protecting your sorry butt. Like I have always said and will always believe we are loved when they need us and hated otherwise.

At no point did I change my mind about becoming a police officer when four police officers from Lakewood, one officer from Pierce County, and one officer from Seattle (all local to me) were shot and killed. The threat of being killed on the job is a reality some of us applicants are aware of and more than willing to risk.
DALLASCRANE, anyone of any religion plotting this sort of thing isn't following what the religion truly wants or teaches. I wouldn't lump this guys with Islam or any other religion.

Obviously this guy has no idea the amount of fervency and perseverence that us honorable cops possess. For every one cop killed, there will be ten more to rise to the challenge. We are not cowards, we are lions. The cowards are the ones who kill in the false name of God, hiding behind the wall of religion in order to spread their propaganda and extremist idealism.

If they had ambushed a local officer in Michigan, they would have provided law Enforcement with a mandate from the Citizens of this State to hunt them down and bring them to Justice. There is no popular support for this kind of insanity in Michigan.
