Suspect Suffers Heart Attack, Dies After Arrested by Cops

COMPTON — Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies say one of six men arrested after a double killing died of an apparent heart attack after being put in a patrol car.

Sheriff’s Cmdr. Bob Osborne says deputies answering a call Monday night about a robbery at a Compton auto shop found three gunshot victims and saw a van driving away. Osborne says deputies stopped the van and several suspects ran. After short chases, six men were arrested.

He says one of the suspects, placed in a patrol car, was then found unresponsive. Osborne says resuscitation efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

Two of the three gunshot victims died. He says the names of the dead haven’t been released.
