SEATTLE – Four Bellevue boys, one just 11 years old, may be charged with first-degree robbery this week after police arrested them early Monday morning on suspicion of robbing a gas-station attendant at gunpoint.

Close to midnight Sunday Bellevue police responded to a report of a robbery at the Chevron on the 16200 block of Northeast Eighth Street. A boy grabbed the clerk from behind in a choke hold and pressed a pistol to his neck when the clerk was busy helping one of the other boys at the counter.

The boy with the gun took all of the money from the till – about $200 – and dumped it into a plastic bag held by the boy at the counter. The teens then fled.

The robbery was recorded on store surveillance video, and within hours police were able to send clear pictures of the robbers to all patrol cars. Patrol officers recognized them – the boy at the counter the 11-year-old and the one with the gun his 15-year-old brother.

Police contacted the teens’ mother. She confirmed their identities in the video and told police they were at a friend’s house, about 16 blocks from the Chevron.

At about 5 a.m. Monday police arrested the suspects at that house, along with the friend and another boy who admitted helping plan the robbery and serving as lookouts. One suspect helped officers find the weapon used in the robbery, actually an Airsoft replica Colt semi-automatic gun.

The brothers were booked into the King County Youth Center; the other two boys were released to their parents. The police will forward the case to the County Prosecutor’s office later this week.
