Guard and Robber Injured at McDonald's
Associated Press
December 31, 2009
An armed robber and a security guard were wounded during a shootout at a McDonald’s restaurant Wednesday night, police said.
Police said the guard tried to persuade the man not to rob the restaurant in the 1100 block of Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard and they exchanged shots. They said the guard was wounded in the arm and neck and is expected to recover.
WSB-TV reports that police say they made an arrest a short time later, and that the man they arrested was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he’s reported to be in critical condition with wounds to his lower torso. Charges are pending.
In another incident, which occurred less than three miles away on Westridge Road, a male was shot twice in the lower torso, Atlanta Police Lt. James Polite said. He was also transported to Grady.

Hope the guard makes a speedy recovery. Where I live there were so many shootings/fights in one McDonalds parking lot they had an armed guard for several months, It was usually off duty police officer though.

When your under fire we all know that stress is immense and that even with excellent training just hitting the subject instead of missing is an achievement. Good Job McDonalds Security Officer....hope you have a speedy recovery.

This is exactly why security personnel should have extensive training. In my area security personnel watch a video and qualify at the range.

It is too late to negotiate when weapons are produced. But unless you have been there and done it, give the guard credit for shooting the suspect when he did.

as a current security guard in oklahoma, i would have to say without more details on exactly what actions the guard took prior to firing, it is hard to judge him for defending himself.
