Suspect Shot, Killed After Theft Of Police Cruiser, Chase

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Tennessee man on Christmas by two police officers in Hardin County.
According to police, 39-year-old Thomas Everett, of Elizabethton, Tenn., was shot after he brandished what officers believed was a pistol at two Radcliff police officers.
Police started pursuing Everett after getting a report that he failed to pay a bar bill. Police said he crashed his car in Vine Grove and stole a police cruiser, then ran over an officer.
Police followed him to John Hardin High School and as officers approached the vehicle, police said he appeared to have a pistol. He was shot multiple times by the officers and pronounced dead by the Hardin County Coroner.
