Man Fires Several Rounds at WA Officer

SPOKANE, Wash. – A man fired several rounds at a Spokane police officer early Wednesday, mising the officer but hitting his patrol car.

The shooting happened as the officer, who has not been identified, was guarding the scene of an earlier shooting, where an 18-year-old man was injured.

The officer was not injured. Later in the day, patrol officers found a stolen Chevy Suburban that they believe was driven by the shooter. They continued to search for the man with the help of a police dog.

Police believe the gunman may have been involved in an attempted car theft about 20 minutes before the Suburban was stolen.

Some people need to sit up and start paying attention. LE is becoming sitting ducks out there. What does it take for some to realize LE should be the last to suffer in kind of cuts. The citizens of Washington state deserve better unless of course you are a damn democrat = DO NOTHING!!

Chierkcr: I have started to wonder the same thng! It doesnt help that the Governor is cutting budgets like there is no tomorrow. Our dept has "released" thousands of "low-risk" offenders onto the streets because of budget cuts..Not to mention the hundreds of job cuts our dept has had. The only thing our Governor has done was announced that our dept would no longer do Interstate Compact Agreements with Arkansas anymore. That was after we lost the 4 officers.
I have yet to hear anything else from her...

We do need some tougher laws here, and I do agree with some of the comments that it is a "Hug-a-thug" state. Again.. I wish they could clone Sheriff Joe and send a copy of him here! Be safe out there everyone...

Again, what is in the water out there in Washongton state. It sounds as though they need to start treating Washington state as a war zone. Police need to start arming and dressing accordingly. What's the Governor doing about all these shooting?

Anyone wearing a badge in Washington state has to be on pins and needles by now. I hope their departments are there to help support them during all this stress.

(But they know that's what we're here for, too, as much as we can.)

We had a domestic in Va Beach about a week ago,,,Same thing they walked in and he fired Thank God he missed...Both officers were able to back out and take perimeter, one of them was able to return fire...The guy went in killed his dog and then himself....If we can keep the news off this garbage maybe just maybe it won't spread...If I were on the streets I would go in every where guns drawn,,,,And if somebody doesn't like it the department needs to back the officers and say too bad...The REAL war has not started here yet...Wait till the suicide bombers start and they will...

WTF is going on in WA!? This crap has to stop!! Glad the cop is okay, being alive is his Christmas gift! If this is the case with all these cop shootings, how about arming every cop out there with M4's & flak helmets? This is war!!
