WYTHEVILLE, Va. – A daylong standoff at a small-town post office in western Virginia ended last night with three hostages being released and a suspect in custody, police said.
Police had earlier cordoned off three blocks after an armed man in a wheelchair entered the post office and took a number of people hostage. The man made no demands other than to ask for a pizza, said Pete Rendina, spokesman for the US Postal Inspection Service.
A SWAT team responded and began negotiating with the suspect, who released the hostages and came out of the building, state police Sergeant Michael Conroy said. Shots were fired earlier, but there were no reports of injuries. Relatives said the hostages had been able to talk to them by phone.

According to the hostage taker he is a Vietnam vet, but the FBI has been unable to verify his story. He was definately a disturbed individual. Glad that all my co-workers were able to end this and everyone of them went home safely! Great job Wythe County!

Glad that no one was hurt. If he only wanted a pizza he could have done that from home. I hope that we get more info here soon. There is alot of it missing.

Gotta rate this up for a job well done by the responding guys.
Weird, and not enough info...
I am just hoping this guy is not a Combat Wounded Vet with some PTSD...
If that is not the case... Book his butt to the fullest extent.

Hold on here for a moment! This guy must have had other issues!!! What he did will probably put him behind bars for a long time because of the felony charges that he'll receive.
Had he just ordered a pizza and had it delivered to his house, and just not paid the pizza guy, he would have only been hit with a misdmeanor.
