Pa. Officer Fired After Tobacco ID Assault
The AP via YellowBrix
December 22, 2009
A suburban Philadelphia police officer has been fired after he allegedly punched a store manager who asked for ID when the off-duty officer tried to buy chewing tobacco.
Ridley Township commissioners on Monday approved the firing of 33-year-old Officer Brian Decker. Authorities say he repeatedly punched a convenience store manager in the face and head last week after she requested he provide proof of age. Advertisement Brittain Motors
Decker is charged with simple assault, harassment and making terroristic threats. Police say the victim reported other run-ins with Decker.
Delaware County District Attorney spokesman Michael Mattson says Decker has checked himself into a medical facility and will be arraigned upon his release.

This moron has some issues. Nobody in their right mind would jeopardize their career over some tobacco. He probably is looking for a defense or a medical retirement.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer ........ Doesn't say what kind of medical facility he was in. "Other run-ins with Decker" may be an indicator of an ongoing pattern of behavior that was unacceptable; more info would have been good, though.

He should probably have checked himself into the unemployment line rather than a medical facility.
