WAUWATOSA, Wis. – Authorities in the Milwaukee suburb of Wauwatosa (wah-wah-TOH’-sah) have one suspect in custody and are still looking for another in the shooting of a police officer.
Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber says his officer was ambused. The 28-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to her abdomen as she was responding to reports of an armed robbery at a restaurant Sunday night.
Police say a 28-year-old Milwaukee man is in custody.
Investigators have recovered the gun used to shoot the officer, whose name has not been released. She had been with the force for three years. She’s in stable condition after surgery at Froedtert (FRAY’-dert) Memorial Lutheran Hospital.

First and foremost my thoughts and prayers go out to this brave officer and her family. Second, I am pleased that one suspect is in custody and hopeful that a second will be soon. Thirda, my concerns then go to the law enforcement community as a whole based on the now emerging trend of ambushing LEOs. We must be ever vigiliant in our pursuit of truth and justice while protecting ourselves and our blue family as well as our families. Be safe out there!

Ambushes are happening way too often anymore. I can see the day coming where all calls are 2 unit responses, simply for safety's sake.
