MILFORD, CT — Police commissioners in Milford Monday night fired a town police officer charged with manslaughter in a crash that killed two teenagers in June.
Commissioners agreed with Police Chief Keith Mello’s recommendation to fire Officer Jason Anderson of Milford.
The accident in Orange killed two 19-year-olds, David Servin and Ashlie Krakowski, both of Orange.

Police say Anderson was driving 94 mph while returning from a mutual aid call in West Haven and didn’t have his emergency lights or siren on when the teens’ car turned in front of him on Route 1.
Anderson and his lawyer have declined to comment on the allegations.
Commissioners on Monday also suspended Officer Richard Pisani for 30 days without pay. Pisani was driving alongside Anderson that night.

That's unacceptable behavior for two officers to be racing. The fact that two innocent teenagers were killed because of the recklessness of one man tells us that something is very wrong here.

At 94 MPH the failure to yield theory is pretty much out the window. Even running code that would violate departmental policy.

94mph, really? Please tell me what the hell was so important to go that fast. The teens did pull in front of them, but if you learned about possible point of perception you can understand a little bit better why it was almost impossible for them to determine how fast the cop was traveling. His speed was so great they didnt have a chance to react. That is excessive speed, the end. If your number one goal as a police officer is to go home at the end of your shift, then why would you drive like this. Even in "emergency" situations you have to watch your speed and be careful. I dont give a crap what the call is. If you wreck you wont get there anyways. Sad for the teens as well as the officer. Maybe we can all learn a lesson from others mistakes.

For once I kinda have mixed feelings on this one. For one the officer shouldn't have been driving that fast, but then again the teens pulled out in front of him. I don't really know what to say on this one.

Anyone know why the other officer was suspended ?? Article doesn't mention why. A tragedy for all involved, though.

will be interesting IF a jury finds him not guilty. no doubt it was a matter of time, but is the timing now right? we will see.

Well... It was not "if" but "when"...
It was only a matter of time...

I gave this a thumbs down for numerous reasons. It was an absolute tragic event that could have been avoided on both parts.
