Teen Tries to Draw on Cop, Gets Shot in Face

Friday night saw an NYPD detective and his teammates performing a drug sting, then pursuing one of the suspects on foot. The teenaged suspect was caught, became argumentative, and tried to pull a gun. The fifteen-year-old was struck in the cheek and is stable at a local hospital. The gun turned out to be a pellet gun--(why do they report this? To engender pity for the stupid?)--but the detective and fellow officers were uninjured. (As an extra bonus, the article mentions that this was the second officer-involved shooting: a man tried to rob an off-duty cop at gunpoint, but that thug only got away with a couple of bullets as souvenirs.)

Pellet gun, nail gun, sling shot, etc.all fire projectiles. And each when used to threaten us is a legitimate causal of defensive return fire. Each day we must strive to go home at the end of the day in the same or in better shape than when we reported for Roll Call.
