Corrections Officer Fatally Strikes Pedestrian In Brooklyn

Charges are pending against a New York State Corrections officer who is accused of fatally striking a pedestrian Tuesday morning in Brooklyn. Police say at about 5:00 a.m., Damon Padmore, 38, was driving along Flatbush Avenue at St. Marks Place, when he hit a 38-year-old woman who was crossing the street. The woman, who has not yet been identified, was taken to Methodist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Padmore, a corrections officer at Sing Sing, remained on the scene, but was taken into custody when it was determined he was driving with a suspended license. Padmore has worked at Sing Sing upstate for 11 years. His mother Joyce told NY1 her heart goes out to the victim's family, but she is worried about her son. unfortunate for the woman , even if she crossed "in-between". how did the driver not see her crossing over ? why is he driving suspended ? when i worked corrections , they did a driving history check every few months if youhappened to be driving a state vehicle. if you werent , this type of infraction has to be reported to your dept. what else was the guy hiding ? i am not going to condemn him based on this incident because "accidents" do happen , but what are ya thinkin man ?

The local New York City law enforcement community has been taking a beating lately with multiple cases of officers fatally hitting pedestrians (this is the 3rd case in the past several weeks I believe). This will be fodder for the local media to feed on like ravenous dogs while they ignore the great work, and responsible behavior of the thousands of other LEOs serving proudly in the NYC LE Community.
