SHANKSVILLE (KDKA/AP) ―
Ground was broken today in Shanksville for construction on the permanent national memorial to the victims of Flight 93.
With the word's "Let's roll," U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and relatives of United Flight 93 victims turned shovels of dirt this afternoon in Somerset County.
The memorial is set to open by Sept. 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
Gordon Felp, of the Families of Flight 93, said Saturday the victims' courage inspired people to work on the project.
The 2,200 acre park is set to feature a chapel with 40 chimes symbolizing each of the victims at its entryway.
Also, path will guide visitors to the crash site.
The plane was traveling from Newark, N.J., to San Francisco when it was diverted by hijackers on Sept. 11, 2001.

Boy do I see a "Typical A.C.L.U. CASE". On Government land a Religious Cross erected . They are still arguing about the Cross Monument for the WW 1 Veterans in California. We need to ship the aclu out the door to Iran and take back our "GOD FEARING , FLAG WAVING , U.S. of A.".. All we need is a "Good Liberal House Cleaning".
