Al Sharprton has backed off his comments and will stay out of the dispute between his daughter and police.

“I met with them and the attorney after the rally yesterday [Saturday] and was told to stay out of it,” he tweeted. “Dominique is grown and certainly can handle herself.”

A spokeswoman for Sharpton said he wants to show that his daughter Dominique, 23, can handle leadership.

“She asked her to Dad to let her handle it to show her maturity and to signal that she didn’t need him to intervene on her behalf,” Rachel Noerdlinger told NBC New York. “Almost like ’I’m grown Dad, I got this.’”

Dominique and her mother, Al Shartpon’s ex-wife Kathy Jordan, sped through a red light and became confrontational with police while being cited. They were both arrested and face charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of governmental administration.

I'm with KarenLee. Sharpton's own daughter basically told him to shut his piehole.

Once again, one of the most racially prejudice people are screaming prejudice. Sounds like his daughter may have a little more sense than dad. Points to ponder, 1. Why does it matter that the police car she sped past was unmarked. 2. The light was red. She screwed up and was cited just like anyone would. As for his claims about her not having drugs or no one being hurt so she shouldn't have been charged; well, she wasn't charged with possession or battery. She was charged with deciding to have a verbal battle on the street (in my town we call it felony stupid) which could have esculated into something much worse had the officers not been professional enough to get it off the street in a hurry. Good job on the officer's part. As for Sharpton, get a real life. You don't have to have your face on TV every week. Even minorities are getting tired of your torrents of stupidity. A wise man once said, "It's better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." I don't think there is any doubt left with anyone concerning Sharpton. His mouth has been open too often. DaddyD said it best.

I don't know why some people continue to think they are above the law. If they had to ask why they were getting a ticket, then they must be pretty slow and I have a feeling they didn't just "ask" why they were being cited but rather yelled and screamed about it! If people would learn to accept responsibility for their actions and act like mature adults in the first place, they would have fewer problems. I also don't know why these types of matters ALWAYS have to be about race. Could it be possible that the cops were merely doing their job!?

This just proves that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Commit a traffic violation, get stopped, and then become confrontational with the Officer who was just doing his/her job. Is anyone surprised? I am not.

I am lost on this one. Can someone explain to me how his daughter is going to handle leadership??? After all she did call her mommy when she was pulled over. Sounds to me she just does not want dad to make the situation worse for her. Call mom and tells dad to stay out. HMMMMM what is the real story?

No it wasnt her trying to "handle it like an adult" because she called her "mommie" when she got pulled over. I just think she realized that her dad was going to make it 50,000 TIMES WORSE!
