May 10, 2009
Tens of thousands of law enforcement personnel gathered in Washington, D.C., for the reading of the 387 names that were added to the wall at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
Officers, survivors and supporters came from all over the country for the event hosted by The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF).
The event’s speaker of honor was Attorney General Eric Holder. Additional speakers included NLEOMF Chairman and Executive Director Craig Floyd and Concerns of Police Survivors President Jennifer Thacker.

I was privileged to speak at NAPO in 2008 and to attend the memorial service. It was probably one of the most moving experiences of my life. If you are an officer or law enforcement supporter, the Memorial is something ALL should see and experience. It is a tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by our brothers and sisters have made, and a reminder to all what every officer in this country risks for our country and citizens every time they go to work!

"All of this is so moving and touching. Let us all continue to remember those in the past, future and present and always show our support by watching out for them. I've heard quite a few that had been killed due to stupidity of careless citizens via not watching out for people pulled over - and another just recently where the motorcycle officer pulled a vehicle over and the idiot pulled over put his vehicle in reverse and hit him! That angers me that people have so little value of ones life! These officers are our heroes - let us continue to support those who work in the force in good faith to help the citizens in need of their help!"
