RIP to those who gave their lives doing what the majority would never do. They gave their lives in service to the public and for that I thank you. God bless their families, friends and their departments. NEVER FORGET!

The big problem with the Vigil, other then the strong winds, is that many people began arriving at 3:00, 3:30 in the afternoon and grabbed all the seats. Where curedgirls and I were standing, we couldn't see through the standing crowd which was, at minimum, 12+ deep. I wanted to see the wreath I had ordered for my friend's son and had the privilege of meeting several of his friends who were there from Orlando... they all promised to be here when the Museum opens and they see the threatre seat in George's honor and memory. I know his dad won't be able to make it - his health is poor, but his mother and, hopefully, children, and brother. THEN, I'll finally get to meet the family, instead of just exchanging letters. Weather here was a downpour almost all day.

IN THE LINE OF DUTY
I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME,
THE BADGE NO LONGER ON MY CHEST,
MY NAME FOR ALL ETERNITY.
I SLEEP NOW IN ETERNAL REST,
RECORDED HERE AT THIS HALLOWED PLACE.
MY SWORD I PASS TO THOSE BEHIND,
ALAS MY NAME, NO MORE MY FACE.
AND PRAY THEY KEEP THIS THOUGHT IN MIND.
,,IN THE LINE OF DUTY,, I HEAR THEM SAY:
I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME.
MY FAMILY NOW THE PRICE WILL PAY,
AND WITH HEAVY HEART AND BENDED KNEE:
MY FOLDED FLAG STAINED WITH THEIR TEARS.
I ASK FOR ALL HERE FROM THE PAST,
WE ONLY HAD THOSE FEW SHORT YEARS.
DEAR GOD, LET MY NAME BE THE LAST!

I do not post many things nor do I comment on much but I just got home from DC. Fortunately I have been able to attend the ceremony the past two years and experience the candlelight vigil. Attendance appeared to increase by at least 2000 people last night. What an emotional ceremony and I hope that each of you can somehow experience this first hand at some point in your careers. God Bless all of us, specifically those that have had to endure a lose first hand. I can't imagine a dry eye in the place because if the vigil does not get to you, perhaps you should pick a different career. On another note, Fredlickert is exactly correct. I could not agree more brother. Everyone, be safe please and my prayers are always with those that have served, those that currently serve, those that will serve, and specifically to those that have paid the ultimate sacrafice.
