Photos From the 21st Annual Candlelight Vigil
By Kevin Powers
May 10, 2009
Tens of thousands of law enforcement personnel gathered in Washington, D.C., for the reading of the 387 names that were added to the wall at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
Officers, survivors and supporters came from all over the country for the event hosted by The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF).
The event’s speaker of honor was Attorney General Eric Holder. Additional speakers included NLEOMF Chairman and Executive Director Craig Floyd and Concerns of Police Survivors President Jennifer Thacker.

Rest In Peace, and JOB WELL DONE, fallen Officers! I'm FOR the vigil. But - Eric Holder? Reminds me of letting Ted Kennedy, Janet Reno, and other anti-Law Enforcement rejects defile the National Memorial Service at the Capitol on previous May 15th's. Might as well let Obamma in as well. Then he could criticize our Heroes more.

There is a very special lady's name on that wall. She helped me follow my dream. This year I had,a friends name added to many. I was not there this year. But when Janet was honored I was there. It is a very humbling exerperence standing hearing the names of so many Heroes name be read. They are the true Heroes, they served their cities, towns, county, state, and country to the fullest and gave their life up, doing their job. I say REST IN PEACE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS... THE SILENT HEROES...

Ever since my best friend and brother-in-blue was killed in 2007, I've been to the vigil and this year will be no different. I can't wait until this Thursday, while it is a somber moment, it is great to meet fellow brother and sisters and socialize.

It will be wonderful and moving. The weather is expected to be 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. Expecting more than 25,000 in attendance at the candlelight service and many from Texas. All give some. They gave all.
