As always, great hearing from you, bud. I can't believe it. Today, I learned that two of my longtime LEO buds I served with when I was still at the DA's office are now PL members. One is Tim Basquez from Riverside County Sheriff and the other is Scott Sharpe from Cathedral City PD.
You may have seen Scotty on COPS once, when he T-stopped some pothead who had so much smoke pouring out from his car it almost looked like a fire...lol. Scott was also filming a Palm Springs PD SWAT training exercise many years ago that I somehow got sweet-talked into participating in too, playing the bad guy who "kidnapped" a bus load of vics and held them as hostages at gunpoint while making a bunch of "ransom demands."
One flashbang, thrown through a smashed open window of a bus, nearly took him out in the rear of the bus and the other nearly took me out. Somehow, the damned spoon flew off as shrapnel and cut my leg.
The grenade itself literally burned every hair off my right leg from the bottom of my shorts to my Topsider on my foot. The PSPD guys were laughing so hard they barely got me patched up. When they FINALLY quit laughing, they asked me to come play with them again later in the day at another location, with a promise of free pizza.
I declined their kind offer. I won't say what my entire reply was. Let's just say I'll invoke my 5th Amendment rights on that one, as a couple of colorful adjectives were used...lol.
