Annapolis Police Department, SergeantSummary: I worked with Jim both in Patrol and ASET ( SWAT) was there the night he and several other ASET members were shot during a Search Warrant service for the Narcotics Unit I was in charge of.

City of Annapolis Police Department, Police Officer/DetectiveSummary: Was at the shootout w/Jimmy and my CID partner and I narrowly missed getting hit by 16 bullets fired back at the bad guy and exiting the house to where we stood. There was so much gunfire - didn't know if there were a dozen dead officers and/or bad guys! I remember the popping sounds and the smell of gunfire - and Jimmy being taken out of the house with injuries. It was my second experience with an officer being seriously injured - and surviving based on their ability to remain calm and their willingness to survive. I've always thought of Jimmy as a hero. I miss working with him.

Hey James--Hope the weekend was good and fun filled for you. I made a trip to Ft Lee VA to see my son, who is in the Army and is there for training. I think I told you he won't be able to come home for Thanksgiving, so his mother made dinner and froze it and sent me up there with it. He and his friends had a great time. I also took them to lunch one day and went to church on Sunday morning with my son. Hope you're ready for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Be safe and have a great week and a great holiday ahead. Carl
