- About Me
- I am the mother of a fallen California police officer. My youngest son, Larry Lasater, was fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers. His eow date isApril 24, 2005. Larry left behind an expectant wife and his son was born 2 1/2 months after Larry was killed. We are so thankful to have this wonderful child, but regret everyday that he will only know his father through pictures and memories of others. Larry was an organ donor and we are close to his heart and kidney recipient, both of whom supported us with their presence during the trial of the men who ambushed and shot my son and attempted to murder two other officers who were coming to his aid. Larry also served his country as a Marine Captain and he loved his marines as if they were his children. Since Larry's death, I have become committed to honoring his memory by supporting law enforcement. My dream is to support families of murdered officers during the ordeal of trial proceedings of those responsible for the deaths of their beloved officers.

"Just Another Man"
He looks in the mirror every morning and night,
Does he see what I see, it would be nice if he might.
He sees a rude man as he stands there,
I see someone who needs someone to care.
He sees a mean man, because he has to be tough,
I see someone who deals with more than enough.
He sees how he tries not to cry and feels he has no heart,
I see someone who has to keep his feelings and work apart.
He sees a murderer because he shot someone last night,
I see someone who saved someone else from a fight.
He sees a failure because he did not arrive in time
I see someone who did his best and needs peace of mind.
He sees just another man as he enters the day,
I see a special man who does his best in every way.
For all the years, he has put on the uniform of blue,
He has never realized how much he protects me and you.
But, as he starts the day again, I just wish he could see,
What he really is and how much he means to you and me.

Phyllis, my deepest condolences on your family's loss.
When God sent His angels to bring Larry home, He had His reasons. Someday we will be able to ask why, but for now, I offer prayers of peace and comfort to you and others left behind. RIP Brother
