Alan--Saw you on line so thought I would drop in to say hi. Things are going well here on the West Coast of Central Florida these days. It promises to be cooler this weekend and I'll be out at MacDill AFB for the AirFest all weekend preparing and delivering food to all the first responders (I worked with at one time when I was on active duty) working the show. Just stopping by to say Hi ! Just got back few days ago from being up in Arizona for 6 days. Had a really great time. I just barely missed being stranded by the big dust storm that hit, as my plane took off just before it happened. I did get to see a awesome thunder storm the evening before. On January 13, 2011, we were shocked and saddened to learn that one of our own, Officer Matthew Tyler Williams, died from injuries sustained in a car accident early that morning. He is survived by his parents, Marta and Charles Williams, brother, Michael E. Williams and life long soul mate, Devon Kelly.
Officer Williams came on board with PFPA on October 13, 2009, and was presented with his law enforcement credentials during a graduation ceremony held on March 17, 2010. He served as a police officer with the Pentagon Police Department 3rd Platoon.
There are many ways that you may show your support and sympathy to the family during this time. A viewing and funeral for relatives and friends will take place this week (details below), and we will be sending our PFPA Color Guard to help honor him at his funeral. Also, the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home website, which includes Officer Williams' obituary, offers a number of ways you can show your support such as sending flowers/contributions, signing a guest book, or sending an audio condolence.
The site also give specifics on when the viewing and funeral services will take place.
