    10-4 Have a great week.

    The Final Inspection

The warrior stood and faced God,
Which will always come to pass,
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

    “Step forward now, old warrior,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?”

The warrior squared his shoulders and
    Said, “No, Lord, I guess I ain’t,
‘Cause those of us who carry guns
    Can’t always be saint.

“I’ve had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough,
    And sometimes I’ve been violent,
‘Cause the world is awfully rough.

“But, I never took a penny
    That wasn’t mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,

“And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear,
    And sometimes, God forgive me,
    I’ve wept unmanly tears.

    “I know I don’t deserve a place
    Among the people here,
    They never wanted me around
    Except to calm their fears.

“If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand. In life
I didn’t expect nor need too much,
So if you don’t, I’ll understand.”

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod,
    As the warrior stood quietly.
For the judgment of his God.

    “Step forward now, my warrior,
    You’ve born your burdens well,
    Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in Hell.”

I thought I'd do an no-Photoshop post in honor of the election madness that's currently sweeping my country.

I'm often asked about my political affiliation and opinions on political subjects - my undergrad work was in Political Science. I find it funny that people tend to view our Democrats as the "left" and our Republicans as the "right." This is not entirely true.

If you can imagine a straight line, with complete statism on the left and complete individualism on the right - the American Democrats are to the right of Marxism and about even with French Socialists.

American Republicans are to the left of the political center. What''s that? Yep, you read it right. Let me explain. Both major American parties are collectivist in nature. Being a little collectivist is like being a little pregnant. You are either for the seizure of private property or you are not. It maters not, in a pure political sense, what you do with the plunder - only that you've taken it under threat of force from individuals to whom it rightly belongs.

Towards the center, you'll find the American Libertarian party. To the right, you'll find Objectivists. The founders of the US were (regardless of their particular party affiliation) generally more Libertarian in view. Life - Liberty - and the pursuit of happiness - with man's happiness as his standard of value - is entirely objectivist. The heros of objectivism are Howard Roark, Francisco D'Anconia, and John Galt.

So, while some of my friends are worried about their particular candidate and party - their way of life seemingly threatened by one ballot measure or another - I'm resting easy. Objectivists have seen this all coming for a while. We know what happens when romance wins over reason. We know the value of selfishness - and of true and unrestrained capitalism.

Enjoy tonight. Remember this unmistakable fact: A = A.

"Run for your life from any man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter. So long as men live together on earth and need means to deal with one another--their only substitute, if they abandon money, is the muzzle of a gun." - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged.
