I wish I had the Honor to serve, I am a marine (small letters) captain. I am a licensed boat captain.120 ton fuel, steam with towing endorsement .. Again, if I were referring to a Marine (USMC) , it would be capital letters, respect for our men all the way..These are all so vague. Take licensed pilot, to be precise one would have to say Fixed wing etc..Pilot is a marine rating as well as an air rating, Such pilots, are required by most harbours, to bring a ship into port and have their entire port memorized(basically the test is all about the local area) ,. When you come home from a cruise, a pilot boards the ship and guides it into port and docks it.. Seems as though the Captain which brought you through the hurricane and across the Ocean should be capable uh? In reality, it is a good practice, it's all about safety.
