About Me
I am one of three founders of The Supporting Spouses/Significant Others of Law Enforcement Officers otherwise known as "S.S.O.L.E." This is a group of wives, girlfriends or significant others, committed to helping provide support for fellow wives, girlfriends and loved ones of all Law Enforcement Officers. We are believers in the education of law enforcement issues, encourage a positive image of law enforcement and support the law enforcement family. Our goal is to develop relationships with the families of peace officers within our own town’s department and surrounding areas if and when needed. We are a non-profit organiztion and we were established on October 22, 2007, after the tragic loss of three of our finest gifts from God, which occurred on 9/8/07. Before that day, there were many wives/significant others who had no clue that a support network system was needed. The need for the wives/significant others of law enforcement officers to unite and support each other is long overdue. This will be a new beginning for wives/significant others to educate themselves about stressors of police life. All too often, police officers will not talk or share much about their job, this is mainly to protect their family and not cause undue concern. This often leaves the spouse/significant other unaware of the physical and mental stressors that a police officer faces on a daily basis such as suicides, fatality accidents, family violence and many other unsettling incidents. Cindy Hernandez and myself (Yolanda Rincon), wives of police officers sought out and established the Supporting Spouses/Significant Others of Law Enforcement Officers group (S.S.O.L.E.). The goal of this organization is to provide peer support, encouragement and counseling. We want to provide everyone with the best possible information that we can offer and I know that many of you have many talents that may contribute to the success of this organization. There is no monthly fee. If you are interested in becoming a member please contact co-founder Yolanda Rincon via PoliceLink. A memebership form will be mailed to you. Please make sure that your law enforcement officer also signs the form. At this current time our meetings are held once a month, at The Clensing Stream, 2900 Kermit Hwy., Odessa, Ector County, Texas. Children are always welcome. We are always looking for anyone who is willing to share their experiences as a spouse of an officer. We also encourage our officers to be apart of the group, so that he or she can help educate us on issues or concerns. A personal goal for our organization is to branch out to reach anyone around the world that needs a shoulder to lean on. I would also like to thank Nikki S. with the CSPD Wives Association.
