    David,
The leaves are falling and the wind is chilling so MAYBE the heat wave is over. I pray that you will have a safe and magnificent fall season. We lost a local police officer in a shooting. So saddened. Will be sending you an email soon.
    Smiles, Vonda

David, thanks for these greetings you had sent me for the past few months. Feel like I am stuck in first gear after failing the initial Oral Interview. The Police Dept invited me again for the interview, but I lost my confidence & hope, so I skipped out on 2 registration dates already, and right now don't know if I should register for the third invitation date of October 19. I hope all is well with you, take care. Rick

Dave, thank you very much for the post. Yes, let's us remember those innocent Americans who died during 9/11. It was a tragic incident lead by our neighbors who practice terrorism inside our country. Pray to God that he will watch over our country and lead the few brave men and women wearing the uniform to protect our nation. God bless Dave and take care!

A storm coming up from Cabo San Lucas pushed in big surf last ten days or so. Oceanside got some of it. Water temp 74. A freak high tide on Friday, September 5. Surf was biggish and kinda closed out. You had to be a master to do anything with it.

My friends and I went in to body surf, but she got knocked down right at the shoreline then caught up in the rip and had to be helped out. She is a good swimmer, but got winded by the blow. I got in hoping to just fling myself into the white water go past the close- breakers then catch a little something in the first line, NOT the surf line! As I walked a couple of paces to get deep enough turn around I saw my filled my fins had filled with LOTS of pebbles because the sand had been torn off the beach bottom at that point. ! I had to squat down in the tumult, 'defin' and 'decline'! I looked like a goof, but I was safe.

A surfer got out with a wet suit tear and facial abrasions, holding his nose a long time. It was banged up, not broken. A broken board lay on the beach. One surfer's board got so badly dinged he tried to stuff it in the trash can to make a small crowd laugh.

We were discussing the merits of our seashell collections when a rogue wave blasted onshore driving water clear to the rip rap, sweeping up all the beach goers stuff while everyone scrambled to retrieve cel phones, sunglasses and keys.

We all got nailed one way or another.

Then, at highest tide, we dragged our 20 lb beach towels back to our cars. We drove over to Wisconsin to check it out as we learned from surfers that the waves were even bigger and had some shape. The News had just left.

By-standers stood on the strand watching waves break over the rocks, spraying everyone, then streaming across the strand into side streets. It looked like Malacon, Cuba, Jr. A bumper-to-bumper line-up of rubber-neckers heeled and toed it though our gauntlet be greeted by hoots and hollers as they got showered. They all looked a little white around the eyes having no doubt water-planed in the lemming line wondering how they'd bail when the tidal wave crashed in. They were met with peals of laughter.

The rest of us had recourse to beat cheeks to a higher elevation should another rogue roll in.

We had a great time. Lots of pics. Then off to eat and hear some C&W at a new place, still a little bit sandy.

Still waiting for the palm-sized jelly-fish sting mark on my tummy to go away. Going back in this afternoon.

    COWABOOYAH!!! LOL!!!
