While doing obstacle course in San Francisco´s Police Academy last June, I fell backwards holding the dummy -what a dummy I was- and fracture three vertebrae in my back. So I have been out and out of touch with this great community. My respect goes to all members, active and retired. I know through family members and friends about the risks of duty and, recently, this became painfully clear when four brave and dedicated officers from Oakland, California were murdered by a parolee. I hope that I can recover well and try again and pass, and be called. In 1987 Robert Remington, friend of a friend, told me that our six month child looked so happy and healthy. A few months later,he was killed by a burglar who ambushed him as he responded to a call for robbery in progress. Let me wish all officers the safest days ahead, whenever possible wait for backup and never take your eyes from whoever you are dealing with. Better safe than sorry, Godspeed.
