I have to come here more often...... I am so pissed right now..... I belong to a few closed fb groups where everyone is a horse owner, or past horse owner like me. A good friend of mine who rides Dressage, (that's where you go round and round in an enclosed arena - sarcasm as I rode Western on 40 mile desert trail rides while training for endurance racing), suggested I send a request to this stupid closed Dressage Group to be added. omg What a frickn mistake. Now, I don't mean to insult anyone who rides in any English Equitation, but lots of people who ride Western think there are many uppity, snobby people in those different Equitations, such as Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, etc. I joined the group thinking I would be open to a new way of riding until I read this from yes, a stuck up snobby woman: "And as we all know mounted police are not educated equitation riders." (verbatim, copied and pasted) She was commenting about a Mounted Unit British Officer who had reins pulled tight in a picture that had been posted. I was so pissed at her snobby remark. I have a friend who is a Sgt. in a County Sheriff's Department, and also rides her Friesian horse in the Mounted Unit. Not only does this Mounted Unit provide security, they go on both search and rescue, and search and recovery missions into the Mojave Desert of Southern Nevada where I lived. Any Officer here understands how difficult it is to ride as crowd control, or even if there's an Officer here, which I'm sure there is, that rides in the Las Vegas Metro Police Dept. Mounted Unit. All I could think was, "Yea, b______. Get out of the arena and ride your horse on assignment down the Vegas Strip, then let's talk about being an 'educated equestrian'. You wouldn't last a minute. How about crowd control and someone tries to kick or punch your horse??" Sorry..... I'm getting out of that group after reading such an ignorant remark. Everyone knows that when a situation arises where the Mounted Unit is brought into an ugly situation it takes a special LEO with their horse to respond. I'm not aware of any Department where a MU horse doesn't carry rank, just like K9's. I would love to hear some real life situations and opinions about what it means to be assigned to a Mounted Unit, no matter big city, or rural. Please comment so I can know whether or not I'm out of line with my opinions. Thanks. As always....stay safe, and a big thanks to the families of those who put their life on the line every shift they report to. Your sacrifice doesn't go unnoticed by others. ~ Nancy ~

Prayers to all the families who have lost their loved one in blue by senseless, violent acts that have taken the lives of those who wore blue.

Oh, I had to drop in and share this post from FB with you from a little puissant. He backed down real quick when I started asking him about all the different occurrences involving Law Enforcement that he may have been involved in; DUI, driving suspended, driving with no registration, expired tags, and no vehicle insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while under the influence of an unknown substance, drug possession, fleeing and eluding, speeding tickets, B&E, theft, assault, domestic violence, etc., etc., etc. I told him to never call 911 for help from Law Enforcement. He sure doesn't want a "gang" showing up at his door.

Direct quote: (copied and pasted) But cops armed to the teeth are okay somehow...? I believe cops to be the biggest and most dangerous gang on the planet, yet they're somehow "heroes".

    Hello my Friend.
I hope this note finds you and your loved ones well. The weather in the northeast is turning cooler. The leaves will soon turn into the most beautiful shades of red and yellow. I believe fall to be my favorite season of all.
How I miss my family in Norway , and the coast. Sometimes it feels like my throat closes. And my heart threatens to break. Thank God, I have my daughter, which helps me with the rare but searingly painful moments.
Wow, She just started her Junior year in Highschool and works her first Job. How did this happen?
Time flies, I remember her birth just like it was yesterday.
