Haven't been around here in weeks. Sad time for me. Due to circumstances beyond my control I had no choice but to donate my 2 horses to a 4H club here in Michigan. I was behind in my board because I've lost my job, and the owners of the boarding facility told me I had until August 1st. to get my horses off their property or they were gonna confiscate them, and send them to auction for slaughter. I was frantic trying to find another boarding facility that would work with me. There was none. I tried selling them. No buyers. I finally made the decision, after many tears and heartache, to donate them. It has been a rough time for me. For the first 3 weeks I cried everyday. I had my horses for 8 years. I feel lost without them. I can go visit them anytime, but I'm still not ready. I was supposed to go see them this last Sunday, and was really excited to go, but then the thought of saying goodbye once again broke my heart and I couldn't go. Just a little more time is all I need. They are on a farm, together, with lots of children who give the two of them tons of attention, and for that I'm grateful. But I still feel lost and alone. I cried in their manes so many times during my divorce and the reality of being alone after nearly 24 years of being married. They were my comfort. I had them transported here to Michigan from Nevada because I needed them to be with me as my comfort, and I wasn't leaving them behind. It's been some tough times. I'm a Cowgirl at heart. I'll always be. Maybe one day my circumstances will change and I'll be able to get another horse, be happy, and content once again. Until then I have wonderful memories and pictures to comfort me especially at night before bed when it's the hardest for me. I dream at night of riding them once again in the desert of Nevada. Me on Aire, my white horse, and Felicity, my liver bay horse, running next to us. Wind in my hair and in their manes and tails. It's a beautiful dream, and I never want to wake up. Hope you all are well and staying safe out there. I get emails of the Officer Down and it's so sad to read of another LEO lost in the line of duty. Please stay safe.
