• Crime and criminology for those interested in law enforcement

• Justice Policy for those interested in law and public policy

• Community Justice for those interested in social work and “helping” careers

The majority of people who obtain a Criminal Justice degree use it to begin their careers in law enforcement, corrections, criminal law or social work. The degree can also be used as a stepping stone to an advanced degree, such as a Master’s in Criminal Justice or a Master’s in Public Administration.

Most 4-year colleges and universities offer at least a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, and many offer advanced degrees at the Master’s and Doctorate levels as well. Two-year colleges quite often offer an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Depending on the institution, the name of the degree may differ, so don’t be surprised to see programs with names such as “Administration of Justice” or “Justice Studies.” The name may be different, but the coursework will be the same and the degree will be just as valuable in the end.

For those seeking A.S. degrees here in Minnesota, the U of M or U of M Duluth offers a great program to further enhance your degree to a Bachelors degree.

I'm currently attending Tidewater Community College for my Associates Degree in Administration of Justice. I'm hoping to graduate December 2010. I have taken most of my classes online, and they are great. One of my professors is the Sheriff of Norfolk county in Virginia, another one is the senior Deputy Sheriff of Virgina Beach.

I am hoping someone out there can assist me with this question...

Well, my question is, that I am going to complete my Associates degree in Science Criminal Investigations and I want to know how do I get my foot in the door into that career field, I know that I can't get a job as an agent because of my age but how do I get somewhere? If you don't mind helping me out with this I would so appreciate it, I just want to get into somewhere, my foot in the door so to speak.

I thank you so much for your help...

To Novem26 Are you interested in adding to your criminology degree, and are tech savvy? You could try UAT, University of Advancing Technologies. They work hand in hand with the FBI, CIA, and with other Federal Agencies. Are you possibly going towards more of the Lawyer's side of criminology try University of California: Berkley whose Law Department is new.
