Chicago uses 3-10 codes. 10-1 Officer needs HELP. 10-4 2 man car acknowleged. 10-99 1 man car acknowledged. Everythin else is in the clear. At least this was the way it was when I retired 7 years ago.

Yep 10-codes sometimes change with the jurisdiction. Baltimore City's 10 code is not the same as the one Used in the rest of the State. That has been a problem when we have officers come from Baltimore and start working for us. We had one officer call 10-32 on a call and couldn't figure out why so many back ups were on the way. In Baltimore 10-32 is disregard, in Annapolis and most other areas of the State it is man with a gun.

2 wrong. Some codes aren't really used here in IL. I agree they should be standardized throughout the Country.

some of these were the same as ours some where not, i know of two different 10 codes in the state of MS, there is probably more. I think we need to go to ONE set of 10 codes for the whole country

I also agree I'm here in the Charleston, SC area and the 10=-Code we use is not the same as this test. I have to say that half of the Codes were the same as ours but that was it. If there all the same Nation widw than that would be great and much safer for all Police Officers....Pilotabaza

Interesting...as those codes are completely different than what we used with our department.

I believe that 10 codes are just as useful today as when they began. While I do believe that everyone should work from a standardized set of codes, I think that departments should still use them. I find "Clear Talk" to be an officer safety issue. Our department recently switched to clear talk and I hate it,
