The Insider Track to the FBI
PoliceLink
Many aspiring federal agents think they can just take the entrance exam, get through the interviews, and breeze through the polygraph. That mindset couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Like with any professional career, you need to position yourself to ensure you are the best qualified candidate. For college-age individuals, one of the best opportunities you can take advantage of is through a law enforcement internship program.
Many people don’t realize it, but he FBI has a special internship program for college students and others seeking advanced degrees in fields that fill the FBI’s critical skills needs:
• Accounting,
• Computer Science / Information Technology,
• Engineering,
• Foreign Languages,
• Physical Sciences,
• and Law
Internships are available at FBI field offices and resident offices throughout the country, but like special agent positions, only the best and brightest candidates will be accepted. As a result, you should be enrolled in a college or university program in one of the above listed fields of study.
The deadline for the Summer 2009 Internship Program is October 10, 2008. However, don’t delay – make sure you are enrolled in an accredited degree program as early as possible so you can submit your application early to avoid it being overlooked.
If you’re not yet enrolled, use the PoliceLink School Finder at the top of this page to locate a college or university near you that offers these programs.

I just recently found out that there is an FBI office close to where I live. Ironically enough, it's right next to the college i'm attending!!! Haha, they just don't broadcast they are there, I just happened to stumble upon this information...Interesting information to know though....BTW, what other government agencies??????? I'm 33, what options do I have still? Can anyone enlighten me?

Amen dana41760! If you are44 and can still do the job, they don;t care, they still won't want you because the cut off age is 37! Most of the federal agencies( except the Border Patrol, 40, because they had no choice, they needed people, because the DOJ keeps arresting them for doing their job!) have this cut off age. if you plan to go federal do while you are young! Peace, ice
