There are six police academies in Illinois accredited to provide basic training by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. For in-service training, there are approximately one dozen Mobile Team Units that are spread throughout the state and assist local law enforcement agencies with ongoing education and training for active officers.
