Alabama Police Academies

Alabama uses a combined system of department-run police academies and regional police academies that are certified by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC). Larger police departments, such as the Huntsville Police Department, Mobile Police Department, and Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, operate their own police academies. The Alabama Department of Public Safety and Alabama Department of Corrections also operate their own academies. Additionally, there are several regional police academies that provide basic training and continuing education for the remainder of Alabama's law enforcement agencies.
