10 Rules for Police Resumes

Dr. Richard Weinblatt

2. Be Detailed

Unless otherwise directed by the application packet instructions, error on the side of being too detailed.  This is a major area that law enforcement resumes veer away from the overview approach of resumes used by the private sector.  Similar to the style used by academia, the hiring authority in the policing world wants to have complete information.  Information left out calls items into question.  In our business, an omission is akin to a lie, so take the inclusion of all information seriously.

this is a very informative article, and a resource I wish I had when I was applying. Another side note, once I was done with my resume, I had other people review it, and then edit it for me. This seemed to help with getting all the information that was required for the applications. Just be complete and follow the directions.

When I applied for the CHP I must have check my application over 6 or 7 times, and I still had information wrong, missing, or didn't see it. Be VERY THOROUGH when filling out applications or resumes.

Being an excon, All the damage, and all the pain one dope head can cause. I now spend my day finding new ways to give back to my community. And maybe someday, find that I can be trusted and help with what ever God has for me. Just like so many people that helped me when nobody cared...That I was dying. To all my Angels, I Love and respect you, I can change. Thanks to you!!!!! yours superluper
