I'm a retired captain and instructor, I want to share with you my number one topics with new recruits. You don't get paid to let these people hurt you, alway's maintain control of your incident and watch the hands of a suspect, those hands will kill you not his face. Don't be afraid to use force when the situation calls for it. Once you have control STOP THE FORCE, don't be a news video victim.

Nothing is exactly as it is in any training scenario. I have found myself insituations and no training to rely on. Just take your time and always asess every situation on an individual basis , you can't lump all similar situations into 1 because there are always differences that can mean life or death. I personally rely on knowing "people" in general and so far everything has gone well.

One of our local CHP officers got hit by a motorcycle chasing his patrol car across the freeway, so yeahhhh #1 is pretty great! I really like the ones about listening to those that have been at it longer than you and thinking before you speak. Those have applications even outside any work place. Being thick skinned takes a little work! Personally, I don't care what strangers say, just people who are important to me or I admire.
